Problems with Automatic updates

Hello there, kferre.

I'll assist you and ensure you receive automatic updates in QuickBooks Desktop.

First, check to see if your automatic updates are enabled; you can do so by following the steps below:

  1. Go to the Help menu, then choose Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. In the Overview tab, check if the Automatic Updates is turned on.
  3. Click the Options tab, then select YES for Automatic Updates.
  4. Make sure to hit Mark All to select all to be updated automatically.
  5. Click Save.

I've also added this article for more information about the latest releases: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

You can also use this as a reference if you encounter common problems and errors with QuickBooks Desktop: Fix common problems and errors with the QuickBooks Desktop Tool Hub.

Keep me posted for additional questions or other concerns. I'd be more than happy to help. Have a good one!

Problems with Automatic updates

When I click on the Help tab at the top, the QB Assistant window opens up to the right of my window.  I don’t see anywhere to follow your instructions.

Did I mark the wrong version of QB’s?  I have a PC and clicked on the Desktop version, but, perhaps, I have the on-line version.

Problems with Automatic updates

I appreciate you for joining the thread, @Kferre51

Beforehand, are you using QuickBooks Online? The steps provided by my colleague above are for QuickBooks Desktop. If you're using QuickBooks Online, we have different steps for that.

Please note that all banks have different automatic update schedules. With this, it runs effortlessly and automatically on a schedule that usually begins at about 10 p.m. PT.

To view the exact time of your most recent updates, here's how:

  1. Go to the Banking menu and select Banking.
  2. Find the summary panel for the account you want to check.
  3. Review the account balance and last update time displayed on the summary panel.

Alternatively, we can still manually update the banking transaction information by following the steps below:

  1. Go to the Banking
  2. From the left side of the page, click Update.
  3. If prompted, enter your Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) credentials and select Continue updateYou must enter these credentials within 2 minutes of being prompted. Multi-factor authentication is any security precaution requiring more than a single username and password.

For more information about this, check out this article: How to use automatic and manual online banking updates.

Additionally, you may organize your transactions seamlessly in the future by categorizing them and reconciling your accounts to ensure that your QuickBooks records match with your bank statement.

Feel free to reach out if you have more questions or if there's anything else I can assist you with managing bank entries. I'm always here to help.
