Buy nowWe used to use QuickBooks desktop and when we did progress invoicing, we could see what was previously billed on each line item.
I want to be able to open a progress invoice and see the following information:
Item Description Cost QTY Total Previously invoiced Current Invoice
Pavers Paver install $3.00 1,000 $3,000 $1,500 or 50% $300 or 10%
Is this possible? I don't want to only see the total percent an estimate is billed at. I need the details for each line item. Why is this so frustrating??
Hi there, ProscapesTN0256.
I understand how important it is to see the breakdown of progress invoicing for each line item, and I'm here to help you with that.
The option to see detailed progress invoicing for each item directly in the invoice itself is not available in QuickBooks Online.
However, you can use the Estimates & Progress Invoicing Summary by Customer report to get a clear overview of your total estimate, invoiced amount, remaining balance, and track progress for current and previous invoices.
Here's how:
While it doesn’t break down what’s been billed per line item like QuickBooks Desktop, you can manually open each linked invoice from the estimate to track billing per line as a workaround.

This does not solve our issue. In my search of the message boards, it seems a lot of users would like this functionality and have been asking for it for years. Why are you not adding this?? QuickBooks Desktop was a thousand times better. I had been using desktop for 25 years! We've been very disappointed with QB online. Such a shame to be forced to switch over...
