Projects if I downgrade to Essentials

I have QB Online Plus Subscription. I upgraded to use the projects feature, but now discover that it's just not practical with our company at this point in time. What happens to all the projects when I downgrade my subscription?

Projects if I downgrade to Essentials

Welcome back to the QuickBooks Community, Olafandmaggie. Let me provide details on what happens to your Project's data when changing your subscription in QuickBooks.

Downgrading the QuickBooks subscription won't severely impact the transactions already recorded. The first thing you will notice is that you won't be able to use and see the Projects feature in the Essentials version.

Furthermore, you won't also view all the project's names but the transactions being associated with them will appear on the different reports in QuickBooks. To do this, please follow the steps below.

Here's how:

  1. Go to the Business overview menu at the panel.
  2. Choose Reports.
  3. Use the Find report by name search bar to search for reports by name. You can also browse the list.
  4. Select the report to open it and customize it if needed.
  5. Click Run report.

Additionally, you may check this article before downgrading to see different details on how the subscription works Upgrade or downgrade your QuickBooks Online subscription (expand the Downgrade your subscription section).

Lastly, I'm also adding this article if you need further guidelines on how to effectively handle your business using QBO: Help guides for QuickBooks Online.

If you have any other questions regarding the features and functions in one of QuickBooks Online's plans, please let me know. I'm willing to share some more details with you. I'll see you next time.

Could you please elaborate on your message below? My Client, an Attorney has Plus because he tracks

Client Trust account by Date of Loss projects. A client may have more than one DOL. Plus seemed like the only version similar to the Desktop application he converted from.  If he downgraded, how would the individual DOLs be differentiated if at all?

Allow me to quickly answer your question about the projects, MJBsBooks.

After moving to a different plan, the Projects feature that will no longer be available. This includes tracking profitability, time expenses, and unbilled work.

The projects themselves will continue to exist and remain as sub-customers once the client successfully switches to a different subscription.

So if already set up as Sub Customer in Plus, there will be no change if downgraded to Essentials, correct?

Hello there, MJBs.

You're correct. The sub-customers you created will remain unchanged if you downgrade your QuickBooks Online Plus to Essentials.
