Buy nowOk, I admit it. I’m using QB2016 on my older iMac. But it has always worked flawlessly. Until I updated to Monterey last week. Now I can’t access my QB files at all. If I revert to Big Sur, will QB2016 open?
Alternatively, I have tried to open the company backup on QB Online, and that is not working (“file not found”). Any guidance appreciated, thx. Just need a way to access my QB file.
Hi, @billyst. I'm here to help you access your QuickBooks file.
QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) for Mac 2016 only supports Mac OS X v10.14 (Mojave), 10.13 (High Sierra), Mac OS 10.11 (El Capitan), and Mac OS X v10.12 (Sierra). On the other hand, macOS Big Sur currently supports the following versions only:

QBDT 2016 version is already outdated. At this time, you may consider upgrading to the latest versions, then restoring your backup file. Otherwise, you can download a 30-day trial of our QBDT for Mac to access your file.

Utilize the trial license for QBD 2022 to restore your file on BigSur or Monterey. You can purchase the license for single user for $275-$350.
Is the answer referenced above re downloading the 30 day free trial still valid today--in 2024? Please advise. I'm having the same problem with my MAc and updating to Monterey while using Quickbooks 2016.
Thanks!
As I know QB Desktop 2016 won't support Monterey. You can install the trial version of QB Desktop 2019 on your Mac to secure your company file as the first step and consider your options later. You should contact @Fiat Lux - ASIA for details.

We agree with my colleague's recommendation that you can download a 30-day trial of QBDT for Mac to access your file. Before doing so, ensure your computer meets the minimum requirements for QBDT for Mac Plus 2024. Then, please note not to register the trial software because it could lock you out of QuickBooks.
Whenever you're ready, download the QBDT for Mac trial install file and save it somewhere you can easily find it. Then, open it (no need for codes) to retrieve your company data.
Additionally, would you like an overview of how your business is doing using QBDT for Mac? If so, you can check out this article: Manage your company snapshot in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
