QB Enterprise 19 is "erasing" a custom field when I save an invoice.

Running into a weird bug. I created a custom field, called ELKBIN. In the field, there are numbers in this format X.XX.XX. I added the custom field to the internal invoice screen and the print screen. When I go to save an invoice , it erases everything in the ELKBIN column. However, after the invoice is saved, if I re-key in the items, it wills ave the ELKBIN column normally. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi MLee,

You'll want to re-sort your list to bring the settings back to its default. I'll guide you through how.

  1. Click Lists.
  2. Click Item List.
  3. Click Item at the bottom, click Re-sort List.
  4. Go back to Lists, and then click Memorized Transaction List
  5. Click Memorized Transaction drop-down, then Re-sort List.

Once done, close and restart your computer to refresh the system. Then, try entering a number in the ELKBIN column again.

Feel free to read this article for more information: Re-sort lists.

Thank you for the response.  Unfortunately it didn't work, and the field is still getting "reset" when saving invoices.

Thanks for getting back to us, MLee.

We can run the Verify Data Utility tool to get this fixed. Let me guide with you the steps.

  1. Click File.
  2. Click Utilities.
  3. Click Verify Data.
  4. Click OK when prompted. If Verify finds an issue with your data, you will be prompted to Rebuild Now or View Errors.
  5. Click Rebuild Now.

FIXED

Thank you again for your help.  While this wasn't the fix I was able to narrow it down with the help of a rep.

To any future lurkers:

My issue was that I had too many custom fields.  I removed some custom fields, moved the field that was having issues to the top of the "defined fields" list (by basically creating a new custom field) and it worked.

Thank ou!
