QB Enterprise 6.0 update

Hopefully I asking this in the correct forum.  I recently inherited a system still running QB Enterprise Solutions 6.0.  It is running on a virtual machine with Windows XP.  After a little research I found that 6.0 could not run on Win7 so that is why they left it on that machine.  I am looking to get a new version of QB but everything I am reading says that data file cannot be opened in the newest versions.  Is that true?  Is there any way around that?  This file is only accessed once a quarter but still need the history information.  My Finance department is using the online version for the active and current stuff.  So any solution to remove this VM machine would be very helpful.

Thanks for any help.

QB Enterprise 6.0 update

Hello there, bbraunwv.

I'm here to provide some additional clarification on your question with converting a company file to a newer QuickBooks Desktop version.

Right now, you're only able to upgrade your company files to the QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise editions. Converting them back to the Pro or Premier versions is not yet available this time.

For more insights about upgrading or converting company file, I'm adding an article below:
