QuickBooks Aborting constantly in Multi-server environment

We converted to a multi-server environment in May 2022 (hosted). We are using QB Desktop Enterprise 2020 and have 55 separate QB company files. The company files are all stored on an App server, then there are 4 virtual servers connected. QB Database Server Manager is being used for the connection.

For almost a week (starting on Wednesday, September 7), we have been experiencing QB Aborting repeatedly. We were told that the TLG files were getting too large and that there could be corrupt company files, so we have done the following:

  • Backed up Every Company File (using Full Verification)
  • Restored the backup of the company file
  • Ran QB Tool Hub - Quick Fix My File and File Doctor (on every company file)
  • Ran QB Tool Hub - Program Diagnostic Tool on every server
  • Renewed the ports and refreshed the connection
  • Sent away one company file that could not be fixed

Today, no one was in the company file that was sent away and the system still Aborted.

Any ideas on what could be causing the issues or what we can do next to correct them?

QuickBooks Aborting constantly in Multi-server environment

Hi there, @MLR29. I'm here to provide additional steps to help resolve the aborting issue of your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) in a multi-server environment.

I appreciate you sharing detailed information about your concern as well as the list of troubleshooting steps you've performed.

In QBDT, there are several reasons for the occurrence of the abort error. This may be because of hardware issues, a damaged Windows, or a clashing of the firewall and antivirus installed in your system with the program.

To resolve this, let's first ensure that your program is updated to the latest release including the critical fixes. This will helps your system to have updated components and fixes. Here's how:

  1. In your QBDT company file, go to the Help menu and select Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Next, navigate to the Update Now tab and click Get Updates to start the download.
  3. When the download is completed, restart your QuickBooks.
  4. If prompted, accept the option to install the new release.

After that, check if you still encounter the same thing. If yes, I highly recommend reaching out to our Technical support team to further investigate the root cause of the issue. Once connected, you can request a screen-sharing session to review your setup. This way, they will be able to know what actions you'll need to take.

I've also got here this awesome resource that you can access to look for references or guides in performing your QuickBooks tasks. Browse this page to get started: QuickBooks Help page.

Let me know updates on how this goes. I'd be glad to provide additional help. Have a good one and keep safe.

QuickBooks Aborting constantly in Multi-server environment

@MLR29

Install QBD 2020 on your local machine, create a backup file and try restoring it locally. Did you encounter the same error message?
