Buy nowHi,
I have 38 Individual QuickBooks files, each with its own EIN. Most of the files are investments where we are only tracking partner contribution/ distributions. we don't have anything integrated. i am looking to to have that i can have one log in, then seamlessly change between files without logging in and out. Additionally, i need to have a centralized chart of accounts, member list, customer list. similar to the way sage or net suite would work. i do not want to leave QuickBooks as it is the most cost and user friendly Does anyone have leads?
Thanks
Hello there, @MW95. I'm glad that you took the time to post your concern here in the Community forum. Allow me to assist you today and provide information about your queries.
In QuickBooks Desktop, the ability to have one login to multiple company files and switch without logging in and out is unavailable. I can see how you would want to have this, however, the program is working just as designed to protect your company's data. There is, actually an option to change between two company files but only in QuickBooks Desktop Enterprise.
On the other hand, although QBDT is a great platform to manage large businesses and track everything, the option to have a centralized Chart of Accounts, member and customer list similar to how it was handled in Sage or Net Suite is unavailable. I actually think this is a great idea as this will bring great convenience to customers like you.
That being said, I'd recommend sending this feature request to our Product Developers. By doing so, you can express your interest in having a centralized system for managing these lists, and it may influence future updates. Additionally, other users may also vote for this feedback, increasing the chances of it being implemented.
Here's how:
You may also want to utilize our page where you can search for supported third-party applications that'll allow you to do it and integrate with QBDT: Apps help QuickBooks run better.
Additionally, here's an article I've included to help you learn how to stay signed in to QuickBooks without entering your password every time: Stay signed in to QuickBooks Desktop.
Please get back to us whenever you need extra help in managing your company files and lists in QuickBooks Desktop. I'll be right here to provide some more information to make sure everything is accurate. Keep safe.
I believe QB won't develop to such an extent and you should consider switching to a higher level program.
Another program allows you to combine either multiple companies or multiple branches into a single tenant. This means you don’t have to log in and log out each time you want to work in a different company/branch. Also, you can share master records, chart of accounts, customers, vendors, items, etc… You can also customize each company/branch with a separate color theme, so you quickly know where you are working. You can even set up different logos, 1099 preferences, and more. To be able to put all of your companies into one tenant, there are a couple of requirements that do need to be met. They need to have the same GL account structure and currently, they all need to have the same base currency. However, they can have different fiscal year calendars.
