I too am having the same issue. I did the same troubleshooting. Lots of restarts to try and resolve. Resetting network. Takes about an hour each days until it starts working. Sometimes killing the supporting tasks restarting computer, opening on another computer, switching to single user mode then switching back to multi user helps. But nothing constients so far seems to work. Hit and miss.
Thank you for the reply. However, I've tried everything and called and spoke to the CS and their if/that script suggestions didn't help. It's a known issue and I assume QB will patch it one day.
In my case the crashes don’t happen consistently. Some days it works fine, other days it will crash 4-5 times then work. So you can’t declare “victory” based upon a short test. Let us know if a week or two passes and it still works. In my case it didn’t help.
Quick response to the reply's...
My use case follows:
After renaming my company file folder and creating a new folder, I copied the .qbw, qbw.dsn and qbw.nd for my company file into the new, originally named folder.
This is not a long term fix and there is definitely something wrong but it worked for me and I was able to get my work done. Hope this helps!
After this, quickbooks started and I was able to do my work, which in this case was billing.
I did run the QuickBooks database service manager after I was able to get it open on a network computer which chose to opened it in Single User mode. That seemed to help, I guess I will know tomorrow if I will need to do that each day on the computer that holds the database, before starting up QB or maybe/hopefully that was the fix. It has worked the whole day. Fingers crossed.
Edited this post to remove unhelpful stuff and refer you to my posts below about taking your PC offline before opening QB - that seems to be the best fix so far and has allowed me to open QB many times without crashing.
A POSSIBLE SOLUTION OR WORKAROUND:
A while back I logged the servers that my Quickbooks Pro Desktop 2021 was talking to and I black-holed most of them except for ones that affected my functionality. I was trying to thwart the ads that Intuit keeps pushing into the program I paid for. I have not had this issue that you are having.
However someone I know was having the issue depicted in this thread and I saw that one person indicates it stops happening when they disconnect their computer from the internet. So, I applied the same 'blocking' mechanism to my friend's computer and the problem ceased.
All I did was add the following entries to my windows hosts file. This doesn't modify Quickbooks in any way and is perfectly reversible. It just tells Windows not to allow communication to these internet servers. The ones with # in front are disabled (communication allowed) while the ones without # are enabled (communication blocked).
I make no guarantees as to the effectiveness of this for anyone, attempt at your own risk. I am simply adding my .02 as to what I have observed seems to work in hopes that it might help others. I would imagine Intuit will eventually fix this at which time a person could easily undo these changes.
The hosts file is just a text file. To edit it open a command prompt as administrator then type:
notepad c:\windows\drivers\etc\hosts
paste the entries below into the end of the file, save it, then test Quickbooks

Well, after QB crashed several times at startup I tried to test my theory about it being related to connecting to their server so I disconnected my PC from my wifi and after that opened QB and it didn't crash. I will continue to run QB this way (with my PC being "offline") to see if that makes it work reliably or not and will report back but for now this works so I suggest others try this too.
So far shutting wifi off while opening QB results in reliable running of the program without having to change any settings. I even just tried to turn wifi back on while QB was open and it didn't crash then so it seems related to the startup process only.
One other great benefit is QB opens a lot faster when wifi is shut off! So I highly recommend others try this and see if they have similar success. Since Intuit won't fix this we have to try to come up with a workaround that will. Maybe we should send them a bill....?
I support an accounting firm with 30 workstations running multiple version of QB. 5 of our systems have this problem and it's incredibly frustrating.
For those of you having this problem, what AV software are you running?
I don't run anything other than what windows includes in terms of antivirus. Used to run Norton but gave it up after multiple problems with it interfering with other programs.
I will reiterate that taking my PC offline when starting QB is still working perfectly. I have been testing it periodically all morning after having a lot of trouble getting it to start earlier. I know it isn't a perfect answer but if it works it's better than pulling your hair out.
I can't find any similarities between the computers that are having this problem vs. the ones that are not.
I did reduce the amount of crashes on some devices by holding ALT while loading the QB file to suppress error messages.
Have you tried blocking QB using the internal firewall? Months ago I've added a Windows 10 outbound firewall rule to block QBW32.EXE and QBW32Pro.EXE to any address using any port. I have not had any issue using my QB Pro 2021. My EXE versions from above are dated 5/20/2022. I still get updates because it uses a different process that does go through the firewall and allows the updates to happen.
As someone else previously had mentioned he had done the same blocking with success, but used the HOSTS file. Either way it seems if you can block QB from the internet, it should work okay.
I would guess this has something to do with Internet Explorer being retired recently. And since QB relies heavily on IE for web tasks, maybe their web programming skills just aren't up to par.
It's definitely related to internet connectivity. I have tried changing the settings in the firewall to block inbound and outbound access to QB, however, the program still seems to find a way to connect because even if I block all access in and outbound and open QB I can see it is connecting to the internet (for example, the box in the lower right corner load with COVID help and the discovery hub will connect to Intuit - these will NOT work when I am offline). Regardless of the firewall settings I still have instability in the app with crashes. The ONLY way I have found to repeatedly eliminate the crashing is to open QB only after taking my PC offline (by shutting off wifi). This has worked all day. Nothing else has. I have been able to turn the wifi back on once QB is running and it seems to be OK but have not tested that extensively. Since there's no reason to have connectivity I just leave it shut off while working in QB, then, once I quit out of QB turn my wifi back on. It's really not a big deal and seems to solve the problem.
Exactly the same! Same steps taken to repair, to no avail.
On my systems, crashes are accompanied by a flood of application events showing this:
FeatureDiscovery:NudgeConfig::GetNudgeConfigValue::Can't find nudge config value for key1
Intuit support told me that error is related to their "Discovery Hub" which was recently added. The Discovery Hub uses QuickBooks' new built-in browser which Intuit unofficially told me is very buggy. QuickBooks switched from Internet Explorer 11 to this new browser on June 10, 2022 which is when we started having this problem. Reference: https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/security-and-risk/use-our-built-in-browser-in-quic...
I'm assuming that when you block access to QB, it's not blocking the new web browser which is likely separate. Unfortunately, I can't block network traffic in my environment to solve this problem.
Today I have consistency.
Started up QB on the Computer that hosts the database. No problem. Launched a workstation and the software loaded to the normal screen and then shut down. I closed QB on the Server/Data hosting computer and launched the "Database Service Manager" in the Quickbooks Program File from the Start Menu. After scanning, it did find a network issue and was able to resolve. After run, I started up QB on the main computer and 2 other workstations with no other issues. Going to run the Database Service Manager at startup before I launch QB from now on as part of the startup process. I do remote access but hopefully won't be an issue, will find out in a few days.
...and the last thing Intuit wants us to be able to do is block those annoying ads that they send us through this new browser that's been causing all these problems. Plus, ultimately, Intuit wants us all to drop desktop and migrate to their subscription service so we can pay monthly. If it comes to that I will pull the plug and find another accounting system. I won't pay monthly.
It's just unbelievable how badly engineered this program is. If you can't (temporarily) stop your computer from accessing the internet I think you're at the mercy of Intuit's developers to fix the problem but seeing how they have had a month and still can't fix it I don't have a lot of hope they will get it fixed quickly.
Thanks good to know and that's much more than what I got out of them. Like I said, I hope these crashes don't corrupt my company data file. But I am glad that this discussion is active. Hopefully this much participation would bump the priority for the fix.
Going from Desktop version to subscription model is a whole another beast. I might drop QB also, if I am forced to go to subscription model! Why would I subscribe to a buggy program?
My 2020 quickbooks desktop crashed after I clicked to install latest update . I have payroll subscription and obviosly the intuit quickbooks software. Called intuit, their response : you dont have support plan, we cant help.
They offered me to purchase their online product to upgrade, for wich i have to pay over $500. My payroll subscription is good until feb of next year. Iy makes no sense right now to purchase a new virsion of quickbooks if Desktop 2020 can still be used.
I want to reinstall it, but my old file wouldn't uninstall. I used latest virsion of quickbooks Hub to repair company file and installation, get a message there is nothing wrong with the file.
Eve
ry time i click to open my quickbooks, it prompts me to update and crashes, Please help!

Did you encounter any error messages preventing you from uninstalling your QBD 2020?
Click the Photos icon on the menu to insert images here.
I got these errors as I was trying to install the program :
1) error code 80070051
2) No valid sequence could be found in the set of updates error 1648
3) when I try to uninstall I get message: No valid sequence could be found in the set of patches ( no code here, just message)
There are many methods to force uninstalling a program. You should contact a trusted IT technician or you can contact us in private if you don't mind us helping you remotely.
Let's make sure to fix installation errors in QuickBooks, HAuto2020.
Normally, when you experience installation errors, you can sort this out using the QuickBooks Tool Hub. We recommend using this on Windows 10, 64 bit. Follow the steps below:
Once done, use the QuickBooks Install Diagnostic Tool. Here's how:
