Has anyone with QuickBooks Desktop Pro 2021 had any problems with crashing/instability ever since the last QuickBooks update? Ever since the latest up, QuickBooks has begun to crash occasionally upon opening a company file and intermittently throughout the day. Does anyone have a fix for this issue that worked?
Yes, it seems all the current versions of QuickBooks are suddenly crashing constantly after the latest patch release is applied.
This is likely due to the new intuit-written embedded browser that's used for many features, which use browser windows instead of standard windows. Intuit replaced an old legacy version of Internet Explorer - at the last minute - because MS is removing support for it - something they announced over a year ago. It does not appear to be going well.
It is almost as if Intuit didn't actually test the new browser with all of the feature that use it - which is supported by the fact that many people are reporting that some features that use browser windows no longer work at all, and others (like the Home page) cause QB to crash or just unload from memory suddenly and disappear. These are the sort of things one finds when one properly tests software - something Intuit has shown a track record of not actually doing in recent years.
I'm using QBD 2021 Premier on Win 10 Home 21H2 build 19044 and so far it's running fine. Are you running Win 10 Pro?
I am running Windows 10 Pro as well as QuickBooks 2021 Desktop Pro.
It seems that Microsoft prefers to force delete IE11 on Windows 10 Pro instead of Windows 10 Home. Consider reinstalling your QBD 2021 in Win 8 compatibility mode. Many of our clients were able to recover IE11 with this solution.
It's an annoying plot to get use to move to their lame QBO
