Quickbooks Online desktop app automatically logs me in every time it is opened so anyone else that might use the PC will have full access.

Anyone who opens my Quickbooks Online desktop app for Windows can see all company information. It will not log out. Even when I manually log out, as soon as it's opened again I'm logged in automatically and so anyone else that might use that PC can see all data.  If it times out and signs me out, all I have to do is close and re-open the app and I'm automatically logged in.  When my office manager uses that PC she has to log me out when the app is opened before she can log in.

The QuickBooks Online desktop app has a useful feature that allows you to stay signed in for up to 6 months without needing to repeatedly sign in on a web browser. However, it's important to note that you can manually sign out within the app if you prefer. This feature streamlines your workflow and saves you time. 
 

 

Since the app is automatically logging you in, which is not the intended behavior, we need to reset the app data. This often resolves unexpected behavior or results in the QuickBooks Desktop app. Here's how to do it: 

 

  1. Go to the Help.
  2. Select Reset App Data.

 

This will refresh the app and clear any corrupted data that could be causing problems. Log back in after this and check if the errors are no longer showing up when using the shortcuts. 
 

On the other hand, I recommend checking your login settings within the QuickBooks Online desktop app to address this issue. Please ensure the "Keep me signed in" or "Remember me" option is disabled. Enabling this option can cause the app to automatically log you in without requiring manual input of your credentials each time.

 

Additionally, I suggest reviewing your browser settings as the QuickBooks Online desktop app relies on your default web browser for authentication. Please ensure that the "Keep me signed in" or "Remember me" option is disabled in your browser settings as well. Enabling this option within the browser can cause the app to automatically log you in.

 

By disabling these options in both the QuickBooks Online desktop app and your browser, you should be prompted to manually enter your login credentials each time you open the app, providing an extra layer of security.
