Hello;
I recently had issues with my 2016 desktop version. It crashed and the backup lost some data from 2021. I had a bookkeeper clean and reconcile up until 12/31/21. I then proceeded to try and reconcile on my own. I realized that some of my banking didn't transfer into the system, so I downloaded the monthly statements and it duplicated many of the transactions. The more I tried to fix, delete, void or whatever, the more I made a mess of things. I'm a Director of Photography not an accountant. I'm in need of help. My bookkeeper is swamped and probably angry because I deleted her work. Can I start a new QB online account and transfer the data without the reconciliations? What are my options to fix this fiasco. Thanks in advance
Hello there, @usercrabmeadowfilms. I'm here to help you move your QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) file to QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Thanks for sharing detailed information about your concern. Once the data moved from QBDT to QBO, all of the reconciled transactions in the register will have an R in the cleared column. However, the past reconciliation reports don't move to the program. For reference, please read this page: Learn how features and data move from QuickBooks Desktop to QuickBooks Online.
To have a detailed guide in moving your QBDT file to QBO, feel free to check this article: Move your QuickBooks Desktop file to QuickBooks Online.
Once the migration is finished, you can use this guide to know what the next thing to do to verify if the migration is successful: What to do after you move from QuickBooks Desktop for Windows or Mac to QuickBooks Online.
I'm always here ready to lend a hand if you have any other concerns migrating your QBDT data to QBO. Have a good one and stay safe.
Do you need to convert your old data from QBD to QBO or start scratch from 1/1/2022 on QBO?
Perhaps I didn't explain my dilemma correctly. I am operating QB online right now. In an effort to reconcile I hired a bookkeeper who cleaned up the books and then showed me how to proceed. I unfortunately added bankiing that double up transactions. The more I tried to rectify the situation, the worse I made it. My question is can I move from one QB online to another QB online without the reconciliations? I need a clean up basically
I would recommend signing up for a new QBO account and asking the same bookkeeper to redo the cleanup process. Then you will learn what went wrong with your actions. Use a backup restore app later to lower any risks.

Thanks, but my bookkeeper is swamped with work or probably doesn't want to go down this road again. Looking for someone else right now.
