QuickBooks Payments Liability

I am the treasurer for a non profit. We would like to set up QuickBooks Payments in order to offer easier ways to pay. I know an SSN is required in order to set it up. I would rather not be liable, but that doesn’t seem to be an options. My question is what exactly would I be liable for by associating my personal SSN with the company?

QuickBooks Payments Liability

Thanks for sharing with us about SSN, @HPWPOA.

If you're a member of a business, you shouldn't use your SSN. I'd suggest consulting your accountant first to stay compliant.

In addition, the IRS requires reporting of all payment cards and third-party network transactions. Thus, we need to file an annual information return and give you the Form 1099-K for your monthly and annual gross credit card/ACH bank transfer sales.

Also, to comply with this mandate, it’s important that the Tax Filing Name and Taxpayer Identification Number or Social Security Number we have on file is correct. This is the reason why you’re asked to enter your SSN.
