Quickbooks Template too big for printer after upgrading Quickbooks and computer

Hello,

Thanks in advance for your help.  We just upgraded to Desktop Pro 2021 from Pro 2013 as we bought a Windows 10 computer.  The upgrade was very necessary, but now I'm having a slight problem.  The invoice template we've used for 8 years isn't printing correctly in that the right hand side is being cut off.  It's as if the template is too big.  If I save as a pdf and print it's also too big unless Windows shrinks it down to 94% which is the printable area.  I can't figure how to fix this through Quickbooks.  Please help!

  1. Go to File > Printer Setup.
  2. Select that transaction type from the Form Name drop-down menu.
  3. In the Settings tab, confirm the printer name.
  4. Click the Align button and choose the template for your invoice.
  5. Hit OK.
  6. Set the Vertical and Horizontal alignment and select the Print Sample button.

Once done, open the invoice you want to print and check if it prints fine.

Quickbooks Template too big for printer after upgrading Quickbooks and computer

I can help you check your printer setup so you can print your forms correctly, InTek.

Before we set your printer setup. let's make sure that your new computer and the version you have are compatible to get the best experience when working with your company file. For the detailed system requirements, you can check out this article: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2021.

Then, we can try printing your invoice using the correct page layout, paper size, and setup. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to the File menu at the top left to get to the Printer Setup
  2. Click Options, then select Advanced.
  3. Choose the Paper Size that you use in the actual printing.
  4. Hit OK to save.

Open an invoice and ensure that the correct template is selected. I'm also adding this article that tackles tips on how to troubleshoot problems when you can’t print, email, or save as a PDF from QBDT: Troubleshoot PDF and Print problems with QuickBooks Desktop.

I'm here to help you if yu have other questions. Take care!

Quickbooks Template too big for printer after upgrading Quickbooks and computer

Hello Catherine_B, thanks so much for your help.

This is such a mystery.  Seems like I'm only having this problem at our warehouse computer.  We have a new computer at our home office too, and I just installed the new Quickbooks.  Our invoices print fine at our home office, but the right hand side is still being cut off here at the warehouse even after checking the setting as you suggested.  I updated the driver, ran the printer repair tool through the Quickbooks Tool Hub.  Under settings I shrunk the print space, and the invoice prints much smaller but the right hand side is still cut off no matter how small I make it.  The only option I have is to save the invoice as a PDF and then print it and allow it to be shrunk to 94% which is the printable area.  But that is a major pain.  Any thoughts?  Thanks again.

Quickbooks Template too big for printer after upgrading Quickbooks and computer

After accessing the template (but making no changes) and running the printer fix on the Quickbooks Tool Hub, it's suddenly printing just as it should.  I really don't know what caused it to work, but as long as it keeps printing right I'm a happy camper.  Thanks for your help.
