Quickbooks Update Warning or Notification

Is there a way to get notified ahead of time whenever there's going to be an update?

We manage QB for our clients. Users in these organizations don't have admin rights in the RDS's where QB is hosted. Sometimes QB releases an update and won't let users log into QB until the update is done, so they are stuck until we update QB for them.

We'd like to be proactive about this by either updating it the night before users get in, or putting a calendar entry on ourselves to deal with it first thing in the morning (as opposed to dropping whatever plans we had to deal with the "fire" of our clients not being able to get into QB until someone with admin rights clicks on "Update").

Does Intuit have anything in place to send out email notices or something like that? Or even a warning that says something like "QB will need to update soon" whenever a user logs in? Kind of like a "your password will reset in X days" notice, this way at least the users can make a ticket before it's a fire. Anything?

Quickbooks Update Warning or Notification

@IJustNeedANotice  As far as I am aware, the closest they come to that is a message under the Get Payroll Updates window saying 'You must update before [Date]'.

It is not automatic. You have to click the Payroll Updates button in the Payroll Center.

Quickbooks Update Warning or Notification

Your suggestion is relevant to us for future product improvements, Notice. However, there isn't a way to get a company update notification via email. I'll provide you the steps to help you submit your feedback to our developers in QuickBooks Desktop.

If you've turned on the Automatic Update feature, your QuickBooks account will automatically update any time without notifying you ahead. With that, I'll share the steps on how to turn this off so it will not auto-update your account moving forward.

Here's how:

  1. Form the Help menu click the Update QuickBooks Desktop.
  2. Click the Option section and press the NO bullet under the Automatic Update.
  3. Once done, click Save and Close.

Furthermore, we are unable to send notification update emails to users outside of our company's email network. This means that update reminder will only be received internally in QuickBooks Desktop.

That said, I encourage you to send your feedback directly to our product development team. Your feedback is valuable, and it can affect how QuickBooks Desktop evolves in the future.

Here's how:

  1. Choose the Help option.
  2. Pick the Send Feedback Online option.
  3. Choose the Product Suggestion option.
  4. Enter your feedback suggestion.
  5. Click the Send Feedback button.

We thoughtfully consider user feedback, and our development team spends time reviewing and evaluating suggestions from various sources, including the forum.

In line the to the topic above, you can manually update your company on your available time. Please refer to this article for the complete instruction: Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release.

I'd like to share a helpful article that can assist you in navigating customers, vendors employees, and items in QuickBooks Desktop: Get Started with QuickBooks Desktop.

We greatly appreciate your patience and dedication in using our software. Your loyalty and trust in our product mean a lot to us, and we are committed to providing you with the best service possible. So if you have any further questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to us.

Quickbooks Update Warning or Notification

I'm in the same situation. There is a notification on QB Desktop when users open it that gives them 5 opportunities to upgrade before locking them out. Absent a notification system that you requested and is really needed, you will need to get your clients to notify you when the warning comes up. There is a tendency for them to click through and ignore the warning. I have told them that if they ignore the warnings and I have to do updates on an individual basis it will cost them more but it doesn't seem to deter them. I have a professional obligation to do the updates as best I can which is why I looked up this issue again and found your recent post.

What bugs me is when software companies like Intuit request that you send a recommendation to their developers as a feature suggestion, as though they have never seen the issue before, when in fact they are well aware of it as it has been brought to their attention multiple times over the years and they simply haven't implemented anything because they want to push users to ther online offerings.
