I can help you merge your two contractor profiles into a single contractor profile with the correct spelling in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @nebaby60.

Just a heads up, merging contractors in QBO combines all historical transactions under the name you are keeping. I'd suggest reviewing both records of the contractors first to ensure any historical information is accurate.

You can follow these steps to merge contractors so you can submit one 1099:

  1. Decide which contractor name is the one you want to keep.
  2. In your QBO, go to Expenses.
  3. Select the contractor with the name you don't want to keep and click on it to open the profile.
  4. Select Edit.
  5. Change the details in the name fields (i.e., Company Name, Vendor display name*, Title, First name, Middle name, Last name, and Suffix) to match the one you want to retain.

  6. Select Save.
  7. Hit Yes when prompted with That name is already being used. Would you like to merge the two.

When you're ready to file your 1099 forms, let me add this article as a guide: Create and file 1099s with QuickBooks Online.
