Is there a way to suppress the printing of the customer name (customer ID)on invoice?

I transitioned from desktop version to online. On the desktop version we had customer IDs like SMITHJOHN for John Smith. We it transferred to the online version it is still like that, BUT when an invoice prints it also prints the customer name as SMITHJOHN and not John Smith as it should be. Besides not wanting to change EVERY customer name over to this new formula is there a way to just suppress the printing of their old customer ID?

Welcome to the Community forum. I understand you want to suppress the printing of the customer name on the invoice. I'll share information and guidelines you can follow to achieve your goal.

Upon checking and replicating here on my end, you can print the invoice without including the customer ID by choosing the Other Templates instead of the Modern or the Recommended template. You may refer to the screenshots below for better reference:

I'm adding these articles you can use in the future:

Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Use and customize form templates.

By using the Other Templates, you may print invoices without including the customer ID. If you have more questions about printing invoices in QuickBooks Online, post them here in the forum. I'll be sure to answer them in any way possible. Have a great day!

Thanks for getting back to us with further concerns with your invoices in QuickBooks Online (QBO), Stillrivereditions.

The option of Other templates, as mentioned by my colleague, can be found in QBO's updated invoice layout. While working on your invoice, you can view it by clicking on the Manage Gear icon.

I can direct you where to find it. Kindly follow the steps provided below.

1. Click the + New tab or if you have already chosen an invoice, click Edit.

2. Tap on Manage Gear ⚙ icon.

3. A prompt at the left panel will appear, then select the Design tab dropdown button.

4. Choose which Other templates you want to use.

From there, you can check the templates you personalized from the Custom Form Styles feature of QBO.

Check this article to know the latest developments with QBO's invoice layout:  See what's new with estimates and invoices in QuickBooks Online.

Furthermore, you can use this article if you have plans on personalizing your forms in QBO: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

Let me know if you have other inquiries about customizing your invoices in QBO. I’ll be here to help you at any time. Have a good one!

That still seems to be very limited on what I can customize. Do you have to use one of the templates? Are there third party solutions?

That really is not letting me customize all the things I need to customize. Do you have to sue one of the templates? In the desktop version which I have used for years you can design an invoice from scratch with complete layout capabilities.

We strive to provide the best user experience possible and appreciate your input. I'm here to help you out, @stillrivereditions.

There are third-party apps available in the QuickBooks App Store that may offer more advanced customization options. We don't recommend a specific app for this particular customization, as the compatibility and functionality of third-party apps can vary. However, I encourage you to explore the QuickBooks App Store to find an app that aligns with your specific needs. You can search for apps that focus on invoice customization or reach out to the app developers directly to inquire about their customization capabilities.

To check for apps compatible with QBO:

  1. Go to Apps.
  2. Click Finds Apps.
  3. Type "digital checks/signature" in the Search for an app field (see screenshot below).
  4. If you have found the app you're looking for, just click Get App Now.

Additionally, I would like to assure you that we take customer feedback seriously, and your suggestion for this feature is valuable to us. I recommend sending your feedback directly to our development team by going to the Gear icon in QuickBooks Online and selecting Feedback from the dropdown menu. This way, your voice will be heard, and our team can consider implementing such a feature in the future.

I can see that this article can be handy in the future for managing your customers' transactions: Send online invoices in QuickBooks Online.
