We have several customers that have multiple locations. Each location functions independently of each other, however when it comes time for billing/payment, they pay through one location. So there is the parent company and then location A, B, and C. each location orders its own product but the parent company pays the bills. We need to track each location separately.
Currently we have these types of customers set up as jobs. So the parent customer is the actual customer in quickbooks but then location A, B and C are all set up as jobs. this has worked really well for tracking and receiving payments. However, We have noticed that there is not a place to store a resale number on each of these customers entered as "jobs". this has not been an issue but now we have customers that cross state lines and have different resale numbers but still pay through the same parent company.
Any tips on how to go about this?
Good day, ztlokey2013. I'd be happy to provide you the steps where you can store a resale number for your customer entered as jobs in QuickBooks Desktop.
While the resales number field is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop, as a workaround, you might want to use the Other 1 section to store the job/s resale number.
In case you need help with grouping your customers, you can take a look at this article: Create a customer group in QuickBooks Desktop. This will help you create groups of customers that match certain criteria for things like location, customer type, or the customer’s status.
You can visit the What's New section on your QuickBooks Desktop, to stay informed with our latest news and updates including product improvements.
Additionally, I recommend visiting this link: Resource Hub. This will provide you with resources and videos about managing your QuickBooks Desktop account, income, expenses, inventory, and running reports.
Let me know the result of this troubleshooting in the comment below. I need to make sure this is resolved and you're able to store the customer job's resale number. I'm always here to help you out if you have any follow-up questions about this. All the best!
