Quickbooks Desktop Multiple windows are opening

Appreciate the screenshot you've shared, @DrWatson. This isn't the experience we want you to have. No worries. I'm here to provide you with details on automatically closing the other windows in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

To increase productivity, you can use QBDT on multiple screens with the new Multi-Monitor mode. This feature is available for 2018 and later versions. To turn this feature off, please refer to the steps below:

1. Go to Edit and choose Preferences.
2. Select Desktop View.
3. In the My Preference tab, tick the One window.
4. Click OK to save the changes. 

Close and reopen the program to confirm if the windows will stop popping up.

Additionally, you can also customize your reports to include your personal touches.

Thank you for your suggestion and I appreciate you trying to help me figure this out.   I tried what you requested but it did not stop the additional windows from popping up..  I also have another image that I'll attach to give you an idea of what one of the other windows looks like.   

But based on your suggestion, it appears you may have thought the additional windows pop up inside of the QB Desktop window.. as would a report or chart of accounts window, but these windows are popping out outside of the main QB window.   ie.. in the Windows 11 environment.   

They appear to be windows that are opening as if QB is running some function in Windows but then just not closing the window once that is complete.

Sometimes this happens if issues are related to the display drivers and other updates or even installation. Updating Windows can help you fix any issues while working with QuickBooks. 

You can go to the Start button, then search Windows Update to open and check for updates.

After the update, it restarts the system. You can open QuickBooks and double-check if the same problem happens. However, I still recommend reaching out to an IT Guy to help you fix some technical issues while working with QuickBooks.

Furthermore, you may also need to reinstall QuickBooks again which can help increase the speed of your computer and at the same time get the latest version of the program for possible fixes. I've added this article for more details: Install QuickBooks Desktop.
