Hello, I am hoping someone can help me out with this. I'm unsure of how to accurately record this on Quickbooks Online.
My company recently paid a customer for his/her travel expenses only to discover that we incorrectly paid a certain amount out of the full amount. Said customer has already mailed a check over to us to pay us back the amount.
My question is - since we'd have to counter the check with the expense account it was recorded, how can I do this on QBO? This customer is not a vendor so I'm at a loss here.

Use make deposits, in the other deposit area, select the same expense account you used to make the initial payment, enter the amount, save
when you actually deposit it of course
that will lower the total expense
Hi Bookkeeper12,
You'll want to edit the expense/check to the correct amount. Just make sure to choose the correct account.
I'd still recommend consulting with an accountant for proper book recording.
Always swing by anytime if you have other questions.

That was perfect! Thank you so much.
