Restoring company file from .qbb and migrating to Quickbooks Online

A client came to me with the following query:

- He has a backup file (.qbb) from the QB Desktop version of 2007 which he had access to from an old computer

- When he tries to access the Quickbooks Desktop version 2017 on his new computer the key code and product code do not work and he's being asked to upgrade by the software.

- He needs the aforementioned backup file prepared for export to Quickbooks Online.

I have never worked with Quickbooks desktop but it is my knowledge that an old version back-up file can be opened with a newer version of Quickbooks desktop but that would require the client to upgrade and he will be charged a fee of around $300 which is wasteful considering that he wants to migrate to Quickbooks Online (which will also require subscription).

Can somebody suggest a work around which allows me to save my client some money? Thanks in advance!

Restoring company file from .qbb and migrating to Quickbooks Online

Your client needs to install the trial license for QBD 2011, 2015, and 2019 respectively to upgrade their QBD 2007 file and migrate to QBO. We can share the trial code of each version or help to upgrade the file. You just need to restore it on the trial license for QBD 2019 to migrate to QBO. Contact us in private for details.
