Thanks for reaching out to the Community. I can help clarify your QuickBooks backup situation.
QuickBooks automatically detects any company file with exactly the same name. It would have given you the option to Replace or Cancel and rename.
When you restored the backup, if you clicked the Replace option, the current company file would have been automatically erased. At this point, I’d recommend contacting our Support team to see if there is an opportunity to retrieve the previous file. To do so:
- Open QuickBooks.
- Go to Help, then select QuickBooks Desktop Help.
- Select Contact Us.
- Give a brief description of your issue, then select Let's talk and then choose a way to connect.
