Search does not find all entries

Hi,

I'm running High Sierra on a Mac and using QBO (Accountant) on Firefox and the desktop version.  When I use the advanced search function to search by amount, not all of my transactions appear.  For example, I have a $4000 journal entry, but when I search "all transactions" for $4000, it returns no results, neither in the desktop nor firefox.

How do I get the advanced search to show me all of my transactions?

Thanks,

Annie

Search does not find all entries

Hello there, Annie. Hope you're doing fine.

I'll help you get the advanced search to show you all of the entered transactions.

You should be able to use the Find feature and get matching results and look for the transactions using search criteria. Also, make sure to select appropriate dates.

For Desktop app, there's a couple of solutions that you can work on to resolve it. First is to reset the app by clicking on the Help menu then selecting Reset App Data. If you haven't tried it, you can follow this suggestion.

If the issue persists, uninstall and reinstall the app. Once done, get the latest version of the app from this page.

When using a browser, these are the steps to follow:

  1. Refresh your browser by clicking the Reload icon or pressing F5 on your keyboard.
  2. If the same thing happens, we can log in to your account through an incognito window. This mode doesn't store cache that's why we recommend using it.

If it works fine, we can clear the cache of your regular browser. This helps remove any browser-related issues and refresh your browser's settings. Aside from that, you can use other compatible browsers in QuickBooks Online. Below are the things that you can try on:

  • Mozilla
  • Google Chrome
  • Microsoft Edge
  • For Safari, make sure to use the latest one.

Search does not find all entries

Hello,

Thanks for responding but as you can see from my query I am using Quickbooks ONLINE for desktop AND QBO in Firefox.  These do not have rebuild data options as you describe.

Hi @glasses,

Thank you for the prompt reply.

Before we proceed, I'd like to inform you that my colleague @SarahannC has already updated her previous reply on this thread. Please feel free to check it out again.

I'll chime in with a few things of my own as well. If you're using the Advanced Search window of QuickBooks Online (QBO) to look for journal entries, you'll need to select the Journal Entries category in the drop-down menu.

You can refer to this article for more information about this process: Search for transactions. It has steps on sample searches you can use as a reference in the future, such as searching by customer and vendor names, as well as transaction types for sales and expenses.

Direct other questions you have about this topic in the comments below. I'll help you out as soon as I can.

Search does not find all entries

Hi, I need to go back to transactions dated in 2015. I can't search this and am in incognito mode. Is there a way around this?

I'll help you with searching for your 2015 transactions in QuickBooks Online (QBO), @Guest2155.

To find your transactions easily, you can pull up your reports and set the Report period to 2015. I'm here to guide you how.

  1. Sign in to QuickBooks.
  2. Click on Reports at the left pane.
  3. Look for the report you need, then open it. (You may use the Transaction Detail by Account to narrow down your search).
  4. Filter the dates to 2015.
  5. Tap on the Run report tab to refresh the page.

From there, you can see your transactions from 2015 by account.

For more tips about running basic reports in QuickBooks, you can open this article: Run reports in QuickBooks Online.

You can also save the current customization settings of your reports by memorizing them. You can review the details and instructions from this link as your guide: Memorize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Please feel free to get back to me here for any additional questions about searching for your past transactions in QuickBooks. I'm more than happy to help. Have a good one!
