Buy nowHello, when I am searching my chart of accounts, I can not seem to get the search function to search in the split deposits. So if I have multiple deposits from various customers, it does not come up when doing the filter search of the chart of accounts. When using the magnifying glass to search for a customer deposit that is in a split deposit, it does not show up nor with the customer profile. The split deposit seems to make deposits from customer disappear when trying to search for them.
The search box in the chart of accounts is to allow you to search for a specific GL account. It is not really designed to allow you to find a specific customer transaction. To find specific customer deposits, go to Reports > Transaction List by Customer > Click Filter > Under the Filter drop-down, select Transaction type equals deposits > Add another filter if you want to filter by Customer name.
Thanks for reaching out to us, @Downaqt. Let me step in and share additional information about searching for split deposits in your Chart of Accounts in QuickBooks Online (QBO).
Yes, Rainflurry is right. The search field in your Chart of Accounts is designed to locate a specific general ledger account by Name or Number. To search for a transaction, you can utilize the global search located beside the Help icon.
You can also run a report to view your split deposits. To do that, go to Reports and search for the Transaction List with Splits report. You may also customize it to show only the necessary information.
Additionally, you may want to import a spreadsheet of your existing or custom accounts into QBO to avoid manually entering them.

The entire deposit amount will show when using the advanced search. To make things more precise, I recommend running a Transaction Detail by Account Report so you can see the transactions with split deposits.
