Is the pricing out of this world for QuickBooks or what? Our business basically requires QuickBooks to act like a checkbook register. I do appreciate the liability calculations, tax forms and payroll checks which I print. Is Desktop worth $1000+ a year for the license, $549 for enhanced payroll and $15 a month for my business of 3 employees? And terrible customer service?
Yesterday, I had a half hour awkward screening chat before I was told a small business consultant would call me. The call never came. Today, I called and asked for this small business wing of the business and got connected. I got the sales pitch but not the comfort that the person I spoke to cares whether my business goes up in smoke after the conversion. Or what the heck the difference is. I said I needed to check with my accountant and see what others think. Well, that prompted more discounts with the push to "let's lock it in". When I stood my ground of needing time, I could almost hear the tears. Why does a company want me so badly to become an online customer?
What was scary to hear was that payroll doesn't convert over. They would do a one time payroll credit, "no problem". Payroll calculations are one of the few things I do with QuickBooks. I don't need that going haywire.
Can anyone that doesn't work for QuickBooks convince me converting to QuickBooks online (simple start) is a good move?
They are very confident with the roadmap. They will force you to switch to QB Online or another accounting application by increasing the annual subscription price for QB Desktop. I would recommend sticking with QB Desktop unless you're ready to take on a new journey. You can start from QBO Simple Start but stick with QB Desktop for a while to compare.

Fiat ~ I appreciate the reply. I may be mistaken but, I thought people had issues looking back at their Desktop version after moving to Online. So, I am not sure I would want to have two going at the same time. It is probably torture to get out of the Online trap once ensnared.
Are you using QB Desktop with a subscription license? When your license expires, your QB program will lock you out but you still have your company files. You can open the files on the trial version if needed or purchase a new license.
I was forced to the annual subscription license last year or the year before. I can't remember. All I know is the prices are out of control and I am reluctant to go to online as I see people in this community wanting to go back to Desktop after they do so.
