Single Member LLC suing a DBA

Not sure if I am in the right community. If not please redirect. ty

If I set up a SMLLC for asset protection, then I set up a DBA under that LLC, do I retain the asset protection?

Example: MyCompany LLC doing business as MyLocalCompany DBA.

The name the pubic sees is MyLocalCompany DBA. If that is registered under the LLC, do I still have the asset protection? TIA

State is NC. I already have the LLC set up and know how to do the DBA. I just have the asset protection questions.

Thank you for reaching out to the QuickBooks Community, dvdgarofalo. Once setting up a limited liability company, you are essentially creating a separate legal entity. Since it is a legal entity, you are afforded personal liability protection. However, this protection is not guaranteed, and liability protection is limited. I encourage you to consult with your accountant to see what is the best fit for your business. If you don't have one, Intuit has an awesome tool called Find an Accountant. Simply enter your zip code, and connect with certified experts within your area. I recommend checking out these articles about understanding the corporate veil in more detail.
