Beginning in 2022, the Pro Plus, Premier Plus, or Mac Plus versions of QuickBooks Desktop will only be offered as annual subscriptions.
The answer to your questions is yes. The users of the new QuickBooks Desktop 2022 will need to pay each year for an upgrade since the software is now subscription-based.
If the new version is already available and your current subscription is still active, the upgrade is free of charge. Once the new version of QuickBooks is available, a notification will appear when you open QuickBooks. This makes it easier for you to upgrade.
Here's how:
- When you’re ready, click Upgrade Now.
- Choose Keep old version on my computer if you want to keep your current QuickBooks. Then select Let’s go. QuickBooks will download, installs, and activates the new version for you.
- When the upgrade is done, hit Open QuickBooks.
