I'm using QuickBooks Desktop 2022. When I go to Open or Restore Company / Open a Company File I cannot sort by name the list of companies on my computer. I can do this on earlier versions of QuickBooks. What's the solution? This should not be a complicated issue. This is not the same thing as sorting customer lists or other lists.
Hey there, @KStaxcpa.
I'm here to help you sort the name list on your computer.
Let's run some basic troubleshooting steps. Before we start, update QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT) to its latest release. This will help you refresh your data and fix some file issues. Here's how:
If it doesn't fix the issue, run the Verify and Rebuild Data tools. This way, we can identify the cause of the issue and fix it using the Rebuild Data tool.
If the issue persists, run the repair tool for QBDT for Windows.
If the same thing happen, you can contact our QuickBooks Support team if you need further assistance with this. They'll be able to pull up your account in a secure environment and help you navigate using one of their tools.

Your solution didn't work. I updated QB and closed and reopened QB, only to get a message stating
"A critical QuickBooks update is waiting for installation . . . " That disappeared after a couple of tries. When I did close the dialog box QB opens to the No Company Open dialog box and I can't sort the companies listed, at which point I roll through my lists of companies to find the company I need.
One of the links you gave me said to verify and rebuild data, but my data is fine. If I go to Files/Utilities the Verify Data option is not available, probably because no company is open. I tried downloading the QuickBooks Tool Hub, which I've used before, but all I get is a blank white screen, and to get rid of it I have to close QB using Ctrl-Alt-Del.
Thank you for your offer of additional assistance.
