Suggested Discount fees automation inquiry

We have clients that charge a flat admin fee prior to paying us.

For example, if their invoice is $4,500 we will receive a payment of $4,387.50

The admin Fee/ Discount is 2.5% totaling $112.50

The fee/discount is not based on quantity nor net days.

Currently I am adding this discount manually when I receive payments.

I am wondering if there is a way to set a specific suggested discount at the customer level so that when the payment is received, the discount/fee is auto populated?

Suggested Discount fees automation inquiry

I appreciate you for providing all the details about your concern, @ALopezGN.

We recognize that having the ability to automatically apply discounts based on customers would make your work much smoother. However, this feature is currently unavailable in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT). The only way to achieve this is by using payment terms.

As a workaround, I suggest exploring third-party apps to help you with your task.

We value your feedback and want to improve your QBDT experience. That said, you can share your valuable insights with us. This goes directly to our product development team for review and consideration.

Here's how to send it:

  1. Open QBDT.
  2. Navigate to the Help menu and select Send Feedback Online.
  3. Choose the Product Suggestion option. A pop-up window will appear.
  4. Enter your recommendation.
  5. Click the Send Feedback button.

Additionally, you might want to consider using price levels to set up custom pricing for specific customers or jobs. This way, QB will automatically apply the correct custom price whenever you create a sales form. For more information, check out this article: Set up custom rates or prices for employees, vendors, or customers.

If you have any other QBDT-related concerns, feel free to come back to this thread. I'd be more than willing to assist you. Have a great day!
