How big is your file size?
30 MB is a very small size. Try opening the sample file. Did you encounter the same issue?
I don't have a sample file. Is there someplace I can download one?

SirielJeaB: you may have replied to the wrong thread. This is not Tmo405. I'm not having issues with opening and I'm not running Sonoma OS.
Hello there,
My colleague already updated her answer above. The investigation related to Sonoma she is referring to shares almost the same issue as what you are having. I appreciate your confirmation, and since you are not running Sonoma, you may follow these troubleshooting steps instead. Here's how:
Before you uninstall QuickBooks Desktop, have your QuickBooks Desktop download file (or installation CD) and license numbers ready.
Next, remove QuickBooks PLIST files. You may refer to this article for the detailed process: Reinstall QuickBooks for Mac using a clean install.
I'll leave this article you can use in the future: Use multiuser mode in QuickBooks Desktop for Mac.
Feel free to post here again if you have further QuickBooks-related concerns. We are available 24/7 to lend a hand with each of your queries. Stay safe!
Usually the issue is related to where the file is stored. If the file is being accessed over a network it can be too slow. Another possibility is the file is on a spinning hard drive rather than the internal SSD. It is going to be much faster on the SSD.
Beyond that it can be slow if a lot of reports are open and you have modified the setting to allow for live report updates (rather than having the refresh button). That's in QuickBooks->Settings... in the Reports section.
If none of this fixes it try File->Utilities->Rebuild. Sometimes the data base Indexes get wiped out and this will recreate them.
