Join nowWhen launching Quickbooks Desktop for Mac it's taking a long time to connect to the shared file, we currently have 3 computers that use it and 2 of them are having the same issue. During the connection process sometimes it gives an error "file does not have enough space to edit or the file is corrupt" or something along those lines. Sometimes it connects after several minutes.
Try opening the sample file, enabling the multiuser mode and accessing it from more than one user at the same time. Did you encounter the same issue?
Yea same issue, I haven't tried verifying data yet. I'm also not aware of any update to either the OS or QB at the time it started happening. I did update QB yesterday was kinda hoping that would have fixed it.
Which QB Desktop year version and MacOS do you run?
Currently using QB Mac Plus 2023 Version V22.0.5.724 R6, with iMac running Sonoma 14.1.1
Currently Quickbooks Mac Pus 2023 Version 22.0.5.724 R6 on a iMac running Sonoma 14.1.1
Hello, Tommytom.
I agree with 4Gal's suggestion to open the sample file and enable the multiuser mode. This will allow multiple users to access the file simultaneously, significantly enhancing collaboration and productivity. By enabling multiuser mode, we can also avoid conflicts arising from various users trying to access and modify the file simultaneously.
Also, let's ensure your computer meets the minimum requirements for network set-up to access the company's data in the workstation. Refer to this article for more detailed information: Recommended networks for QuickBooks.
Additionally, verifying that each workstation meets the requirements for running QBDT is crucial. This means checking the operating system version, processor speed, available memory, and disk space. We must ensure that all workstations have the hardware and software components to run QBDT smoothly without any performance issues. By doing so, we can ensure that our financial data is managed efficiently and accurately. See this system requirement for QuickBooks Desktop for the MAC 2023 article.
Feel free to post again or comment below if you have concerns about sharing the file in QB Mac. I'm more than willing to help. Have a wonderful day!
Thank you AileneA, that is our current setup. We all have new this year iMac so I'm pretty confident that it is not a hardware issue either. There has been a few updates and we are inputting more data than we have been so I'm guessing it has something to do with that. We got them working, just frustrating that sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't.
Any advise?
I found something that has helped, by verifying the data I have noticed the other computers have spent less time connecting to the shared file. Though it is still longer than it has been in the past it has improved, I also haven't seen the error since then.
