Template Columns Won't Order Correctly

Hello!

I am writing here because I have exhausted Google searches as an option, and hope that I can find a solution to problem here.

When editing a template, it seems as though I cannot get the columns of the main body to sort themselves correctly. I assign them an ordering value, but they do not follow it. "Shipped" should be before "Rate". Is there a way I can manually change their positioning in the layout designer? Why doesn't the numbering in additional customization work?

Template Columns Won't Order Correctly

Hi there, @Big_W.

You may be using an old template when customizing your sales form in QuickBooks Desktop. There are times that editing one of these won't apply changes to its form.

I've replicated the steps that you've made and it seems that it worked for me. You can check the screenshot below as a reference:

I recommend, creating a new template again and then apply your customization to it. This way, we can guarantee this will work for you, too.

Let me show you how:

  1. Go to List and select Templates.
  2. In the Templates drop-down list, click New.
  3. Select the type of template you want to create and click OK. (I've selected Invoice for this step)
  4. In the bottom section, select Additional Customization.
  5. Go to the Columns tab and then add Shipped.
  6. Check the boxes for Screen and Print. Then, arrange its order using the numbers in the Order column.
  7. Click Continue and select OK.

In addition, you can customize your email templates and use them to send messages from QuickBooks. In case you encounter issues while using this template, here's how to fix email template issues.

I'm always here to help if you have any other concerns or questions. Just tag my name in the comment section and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Have a great day.

Template Columns Won't Order Correctly

Thank you for your help!

I can tell that you set aside time for me to answer thoroughly, and I really appreciate it!

Unfortunately, this did not solve the problem. This template *is* a new template created from scratch last week after running into another issue. I did manage to solve it though! I basically tried disabling, saving, then reenabling different columns until they fell in line.
