Tranferred from Desktop Qbs to Qbs online. Inactive bank accounts from before the transfer is showing unapplied payments & Quickbooks is taking off of current invoices?

Historical transactions linked to inactive bank accounts may carry over as unapplied payments when moving to QuickBooks Online, Whimsicalpoppy1.

 

After the transfer to QBO, the program will automatically apply these payments to the current invoices to keep your balance accurate. To help resolve this, you’ll first need to review or run specific reports to identify which unapplied payments are associated with inactive bank accounts or erroneously open invoices.

 

Then, consider reactivating the bank accounts temporarily to properly reassign payments to the correct invoice before making them inactive again. To do this:

 

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon and select Chart of Accounts.
  2. Locate the inactive bank account and click Make active.

 

If the unapplied payments were intended for specific invoices, find the original invoice and apply the payment to it. Here’s how:

 

  1. Go to My Apps and choose Sales Transactions under the Sales and Get Paid dropdown.
  2. Look for the original invoice and click Receive Payment.
  3. Under Outstanding Transactions, check the open invoice and apply the payment associated with it.

 

 

However, if these payments are applied incorrectly or duplicates, you can either void or delete the payment.

 

  1. Open the unapplied payment transaction.
  2. From the payment page, click More. Then, select Delete or Void. If you delete the transaction, ensure that the original transaction (e.g., correct payment or invoice) exists to maintain accurate records.
