Transaction Search > 1 Year

Hi!

We edit the description of each invoice item to include the third party customer name. We used to be able to search by description but now nothing over one year will show up. When I edit the dates to include all dates in the Advance Search screen, still nothing comes up. There is no other way to search by description that I am seeing.

From other boards I saw to clear the cache to allow room for older date to show up but that didn't help.

Hello there, Vanessa. I see the benefit of searching transactions by its description.

Please know that searching by description is currently unavailable in the new interface. But don't worry, there's a workaround to help you achieve your desired outcome. I can guide you on how to switch back to the old interface.

To switch to classic advanced search:

  1. Hover to the top right corner and click the magnifying icon.
  2. Click Advanced Search.
  3. Click Go to Classic Advanced Search
  4. In the Reference dropdown, select Line Description
  5. Type in the Line Description, then hit Search.

See the attached screenshot for reference.

Meanwhile, I'll add articles to share some tips and information on how to customize and run reports in QuickBooks Online:

You're always free to return here by tapping the reply button. I'm always here to assist you further regarding the new advanced search. Have a good one, Vanessa!

Hi, Vanessa. Thank you for attaching a screenshot.

Since the "Go to Classic Advanced Search" option isn't showing at your end. Let's do some troubleshooting steps to fix this unusual behavior of the program. To begin, start by opening an incognito or private browser window. You can use the following keyboard shortcuts for the most popular browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • Mozilla Firefox: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Microsoft Edge: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • Safari: Command + Shift + N

Once you have opened the browser window, log in to your QuickBooks account and see if the option will be available. If it is, proceed to clear your browser's cache. This process will remove and fix specific issues and help the program run optimally. Additionally, you can use other devices and supported browsers to ensure everything works as expected.

Additionally, I'm adding this article to get the most out of your financial reports: Customize reports in QuickBooks Online.

Please let me know if you have further concerns about the Advanced search feature in QBO. I'll be here to provide assistance.
