Transferring data Between Quickbooks accounts

Hello

Every tax season, my accountant asks for my QB Pro2017 Desktop file to work on, then some time after the April rush,  returns an updated file to me, where I should be inputting data (Invoices, Jobs, etc) for the new year.   During 2019, I continued to input new data into "last year's" 2018 file.

Is there a way to copy data entries  (For example, an itemized invoice)  from the 2018 file and paste it into the 2019 file, or am I stuck manually inputting the data into the "new" 2019 file?

Thank you in advance

Transferring data Between Quickbooks accounts

Hello there, @ASJr,

You can transfer transactions between QuickBooks using IIF files. This helps enter bulk information directly into the program.

Here are the sample IIF templates you can use to corrrectly map the data you're importing:

Once you have a file ready, you can start the import using the steps below:

  1. From the File menu, select Switch to Single-user Mode.
  2. Create a backup of your company files to avoid accidental data loss during the process.
  3. Go back to the File tab and choose Utilities this time.
  4. Press Import then Import IIF Files.
  5. Locate the IIF file you created then select Open.
  6. Hit OK to confirm your data was imported.

These links will help you further with the entire transfer process:

Another option is trying out a third party application to transfer sales from one QuickBooks file to another.

Let me know if you have any questions about this or need additional help with anything in QuickBooks. I'm always here to help. Have a nice day!
