Trying to email contractors from QBO

Currently there is no way to email a contractor so they can verify the info on their profile is current and correct. There is only the option to email on initial set up, once the profile is set up, the option to email a contractor is gone. Information changes and contractors need to be able to update their info...and I need to be able to invite them directly from QBO to make those changes. Why isn't this an option??

Trying to email contractors from QBO

Hi there, @equityuser.

You're correct, once a contractor's profile is set up in QuickBooks, the email option for updating their information is no longer available. However, there's still an option to let your contractor verify and update their information.

Contractors can update their information directly through their account, and any changes will automatically sync with QuickBooks. By telling your contractors that after their profile is fully set up, any subsequent updates they make to their account will automatically sync with QuickBooks.

QuickBooks also creates a QuickBooks Money account for contractors, which allows them to fill out their W-9 forms and update their payment details directly within the platform.

Alternatively, if you prefer to email your contractor after setting up their account, you can use your personal or company email to let them know if you're using the correct information to setup their account.

Afterwards, you can now start setting up your QBO Payroll to pay your contractors with direct deposit

If you need help with setting up direct deposit for your contractors, feel free to leave a reply. I'm always available to assist with any concerns you have.

Trying to email contractors from QBO

Hi thanks for your reply. It's really crazy that we can't email our contractors directly from QBO. How do they access their 1099s, or what if they need to update their address or their W9? Not all of our contractors want to create a self employed account with QB, and nor should they have to. I'm paying to file our 1099s with QBO and in order to do that I need the contractors to verify their info. Please help me find a work around (one that does not involve a contractor creating an account) so that I can get these important tax filings done on time. I have been trying to get their info verified for almost two weeks now.

Appreciate the expediency.

Trying to email contractors from QBO

Hi, equityuser.

I understand your concern regarding the inability to email contractors directly through QBO, which complicates accessing their 1099s and updating necessary information.

As explained by MarkAngeloG, it's true that once the contractor completes setting up their information, we don't have a way to resend an email. Moving forward, you can tell your contractor to set up their account so that if they update their information, it will sync automatically to QuickBooks.

A potential workaround could be to manually collect the required information from your contractors via email or another secure method outside of QBO, then manually input their data into the system on your end. This way, you can ensure that all information is accurate and up-to-date without requiring the contractors to create their accounts.

Since the option to resend an email invitation to update your contractor's information is not yet available, I encourage you to provide feedback to our development team.

Here's how:

  1. Navigate to the Gear icon.
  2. Select Feedback.
  3. Enter your product suggestion.
  4. Click Next to submit.
