Trying to search for answers in Community is a waste of time

When I have issues with QuickBooks (I use Desktop and Online versions) and I try to find answers on the community boards, I find it impossible to find relevant information. I was a CPA for 20 years and have been using QuickBooks for 30, so my questions are typically related to changes made to the software and new glitches that have been introduced by Intuit, not how to post depreciation or record a vendor deposit.

The only search options available are by product. There is no way to search titles versus posts, provide date ranges for the search(?!), use advanced boolean arguments (seriously?) or filter posts by number of comments.

It seems that there is a deliberate attempt on the part of Intuit to completely neuter the community aspect of this "community". Almost every search I perform gives me page 1 results from years ago that are completely irrelevant to my question. Not to disparage small business owners or non accountant types, but the same questions are asked and answered almost on a daily basis. With no meaningful way to search, it is destined to always be thus.

I don't think Intuit wants coherent discussion. If they did, perhaps the voices of their increasingly agitated customers would be amplified. Best to suppress the dissent with the chaos that is QB community search.

Trying to search for answers in Community is a waste of time

Hello there, @DianaAxe.

I understand how important it is to get relevant and updated information here in the Community. Know that this is not the impression we want you to have in QuickBooks. May I ask if there's anything that I can help you with today? Or would you like me to provide updates about a specific fix on glitches or software updates in QuickBooks?

If there's anything else that I can help you with, feel free to click the REPLY button below. I'm more than willing to serve you. Take care.

Trying to search for answers in Community is a waste of time

I would like the search options changed to make searching more meaningful rather than a huge waste of my time. My specific issues at the moment have to do with Truist not updating in QB Online, and the announced pricing hikes.

It's ironic that a HUGE part of the justification for the enormous price hikes over the last few years is improved customer service. That is a joke. It would take an engineer no time at all to fix the search issues on this website. It hasn't been done and it won't be done because it would put a modicum of power in the hands of your customers.

Trying to search for answers in Community is a waste of time

Thanks for getting back and sharing your concerns with us, @DianaAxe.

I can see the importance of having the option to filter articles and related posts in the QuickBooks Community Search to get answers. Let me take note of this suggestion and send it to our developers so we can improve our service. This would be helpful, especially to those who are new to the product as well as to accounting experts like you.

With regards to your Truist banking concerns, we can run some basic troubleshooting steps to address the issue. To start, let's run a manual update to refresh your bank feeds connection.

Here's how:

  1. Click Banking from the left menu,
  2. Click the gray Update button, located in the top-right corner of the screen. This will attempt to connect and update your bank account which may take a few minutes.

If the transactions still aren't downloading, you can follow the steps outlined in this help article to fix the problem: What to do if you get a bank error or can't download transactions in QuickBooks Online

Let me also share some information regarding the changes in QuickBooks Online prices. Our price increases are in line with the industry standards. The new pricing plans will reflect the needs of our clients better while allowing us to keep improving the service and developing new features.
