You can run QBD 2021 and 2022 on the same machine at the same time. I would recommend to keep using QBD 2021 for the time being.

Unable to open company file after DB32 update. Also, can v22 be installed with older version of DB32... In order to try to use nightly back ups to open? install older

Hi there, Smarthandsguy.

Thank you for visiting again the QuickBooks Community. I'll be providing details on how QuickBooks Desktop 2022 works. Then, let's conduct some troubleshooting steps to ensure you can open your company files smoothly.

When you're having a problem opening your company file in QuickBooks Desktop, there are various instructions you have to check to fix this matter. To start with, I recommend checking the file you’re opening and ensuring to open a company file (QBW) with a .qbw extension at the end of the filename. Please know that you're unable to open other file types, like backups (QBB) and portable files (QBM), the same way.

Then, let's verify if your company file or the QuickBooks program itself is causing the issue.

Here's how:

  1. Open the Windows Start menu.
  2. Type “File Explorer” into the search and open File Explorer.
  3. Search for and find the QuickBooks.exe file. It’s usually in your QuickBooks folder.
  4. Hold down CTRL on your keyboard and double-click QuickBooks.exe. Don’t let go of CTRL until QuickBooks opens.

Once QuickBooks opens, open your company file. If you can't, you can try a second test. Then, you can click this article to see additional details and how to complete the process of fixing the issue: What to do if you can't open your company file in QuickBooks Desktop.

On the other hand, yes v22 be installed or compatible with the version of DB32. You'll have to install the Database Server Manager for each version in chronological order from oldest to newest. To view further information, you can open this article: Install QuickBooks Database Server Manager. This also provides steps on how to perform the procedure.

Lastly, you may refer to this article to find out about the operating system, hardware, software, and other requirements to run QuickBooks Desktop 2022 for the best experience: System requirements for QuickBooks Desktop 2022.

Please feel free to click the Reply button below for any additional questions about running QBDT 2022. I'm always here to help you, Smarthandsguy. Have a great day!

"Database Server Manager for each version in chronological order" wasn't very appealing
