Recently I got this error message “Unrecoverable Error. Rebuild data now. Close all windows. Go to File. Utilities. Rebuild Data. I f you receive this message again call, 866-918-3639. When I closed the error message window it shut down Quickbooks. Every time I tried to open it I got the same error message.
After several tries I finally called the phone number and was asked to give the technician control of my computer so he could see what was going on. I complied and he found several “errors” and said I would need a data technician to rebuild my data and it would take 1-2 hours at a cost of buy a year support package for $1300. I asked what other option there was and he said pay $499 one time for each company (I have two) so I’d be better off paying the year service. I told him I wasn’t going to decide that right now and would look into other options. He told me not to use Quickbooks because it could do further damage to my data.
The next day I tried to open Quickbooks. It opened right up. I was able to do the rebuild for both companies. Now I’m wondering if this was all a scam? But how did that error message appear?
Thank you for the detailed information, @Pinkyonkeowee.
Let me provide some information about the unrecoverable error and help you fix it if you experience it again.
The Unrecoverable Error could happen if the QBCF monitor service is running on a workstation that's not hosting the company file, and this can be fixed by performing some troubleshooting steps on your company file. That said, you don't need to pay any support packages or services to fix it. Please know that QuickBooks doesn't ask for payment to fix data issues on the program.
If you encounter the same problem in the future, you can fix it by running the Quick Fix my Program from the QuickBooks Tools Hub. Here's how:
If the issue persists, you can check out this article for more troubleshooting steps: Unrecoverable Error when opening a QuickBooks Desktop file on a workstation.

I have seen the same report on 3 different posts since last month. You are using QBD 2022, correct?
Can you find the following files in the same folder on your machine?
90s.trf
QuickBooksDownloader.exe.config
QuickBooksDownloader.exe.manifest
After spending one hour and 35 minutes yesterday with your tech support it was determined it was a virus. The attached photo is the warning that was put on with the bogus phone number I called demanding payment to fix the problem. Finally we were able to remove the virus and open the program. It seems to be operating fine.
So, I just had the same experience and unfortunately, I call the technical support and gave them access to my computer/QB. When they started showing all of the "critical" errors I got suspicious and then when the asked if I had a paid subscription, I ended the call. I called the real Intuit support team and they tried everything. The pop up is still there. Someone said it was a virus and the team removed it. Do you know what they did? They are saying I may have to send my file, and have it recreated if we cannot get this resolved.
I have the same situation. Do you know what they did to remove the virus? I have been on the phone with Intuit Tech for a couple of hours
Can you find the files as I mentioned earlier on your machine?
