Buy nowWhen I try to update QB Desktop Accountant 23, I get error 15242. After searching this error, it appears to relate to payroll. I don't use payroll, and my preferences have No Payroll set. I found this https://quickbooks.intuit.com/learn-support/en-us/other-questions/intuit-fcs-service/01/225339 and tried that reboot.bat as Run as Administrator, but the error remains.
I've also tried the QB ToolHub | Program Problems | Quick Fix Program, to no avail.
I've also tried resetting the update...same error.

Error 15242 often involves the Intuit FCS (File Copy Service), which can affect updates for QuickBooks Desktop, even if you are not currently using QuickBooks Desktop Payroll. Since you have already tried solutions like reboot.bat and the Quick Fix Program, here are further steps and routing options to help resolve the issue.
If you have already used the QuickBooks Migrator Tool, updated your QuickBooks to the latest version, and followed all the provided steps, but are still encountering the same error message, I recommend manually moving or reinstalling QuickBooks without using the Migrator Tool. To proceed with the manual move or reinstall, please follow these steps:
After installation, you will need to register QuickBooks. Here's how:
If you're using Windows 10, please check pending system updates before using the migration tool. This process helps prevent compatibility issues.
If the issue persists, I recommend contacting our QuickBooks Desktop Live Support team. They can dive deeper into the cause of this error and work with you to identify why it occurs during your QuickBooks payroll updates.
You’ve already made great progress toward solving this error. By following these recommendations or connecting with QuickBooks Support, I am confident you will have it fixed soon. If you have further questions or need assistance with the next steps, feel free to reach out. I am here to help whenever you need support!
Thanks, I didn't use the Migrator Tool. I have no desire to remove and reinstall QBs....it's working, it's just not updating some of the program. I can live with that rather than risk destroying my running program. Unless there is another solution, just close this one.
