Join nowI am running the Mac desktop app for QBO Version 4.3.0-82 (4.3.0-82.82). I have been running this form quite a while - maybe even a year - and I have not seen an update. When I click on Quickbooks/Check for Updates, it always says I am running the most current version.
Is the app being updated in the background without my knowledge? If QBO is like any other app I have, there are updates every month or two. It's been a long time, if ever, that I've seen an update. It's not a problem per se, I'm just curious as to the update procedure/timing and making sure my Check for Updates menu option is working correctly.
BTW, my account is with Quickbooks Online, but I use the desktop app (for Mac). Do you consider this a QBO question or a Quickbooks Desktop for Mac question?
Hey there, Yo_Be_Low.
Thanks for dropping by the Community today, I'm happy to help you out. If you're using QuickBooks Online then you don't need to worry, part of the cloud based storage system that QBO utilizes is automatic updates without you ever having to do a thing. If you're referring to the QuickBooks Desktop for Mac software (two different software's) that a different story, with QBDT for mac, you'll need to set up automatic updates or do so manually, to do that, you can check out this link for the steps. Update QuickBooks Desktop to the latest release. If you aren't sure which version you have, you could always attach a screenshot below, this will allow us to determine which program you're using.
Thank you for your time and If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to post here anytime. Thanks and I hope you have a lovely day.
I'm using QBO (cloud based). But I don't typically use the browser-based interface. There's a downloadable App Intuit provides that interfaces with the cloud-based QBO system. This is the app I'm referring to, and wondering if it ever needs to be updated, or if that happens automatically.
(I have noticed on occasion that the app seems to restart on it's own, closing all the open tabs. I assumed it had just crashed, but maybe it was doing an update).
Hello there, Yo_Be_Low.
We're glad to have you back and sharing your concern with us.
You're right. It happened because of an automatic update. That's why the app is restarting and closing all the open tabs. If you've finished updating the app, you can check the Stay Signed In box on the Sign in page. It helps you signed in for hours and do things on your book.
If you encounter issues after the update, it'll be a good idea to uninstall and reinstall the application. It helps to fix common issues. You can use this link when reinstalling the app. Once you get there, click the Free Download.
