UPGRADE

Any reason why I need to "upgrade" to Desktop 2024 if I have Desktop Pro Plus 2022?   What's the advantage as I only use QB  for payroll & invoicing customers.

Thanks

UPGRADE

Thanks for becoming part of the Community, 6257.

Upgrading isn't required and is optional. After May 31, 2025, your QuickBooks 2022 software will be discontinued. This includes all 2022 versions of QuickBooks Pro, Premier, Mac, and Enterprise Solutions v22. Other Intuit products are affected by the software discontinuation.

If you don't upgrade by May 31, you won't have access to live tech support or any other Intuit services that can be integrated with your books. This includes QuickBooks Payroll, QuickBooks Payments, and online bank fees. Discontinued versions also won't receive the latest critical security patches updates.

In the event you choose to upgrade, you can do so while using QuickBooks.

Here's how:

  1. When you're ready, click your Upgrade Now option. If you don't see the prompt to upgrade your subscription, you can change the one time message prompts in your preferences to bring it back.
  2. Choose Keep old version on my computer if you want to keep your current QuickBooks.
  3. Hit Let's go.
  4. QuickBooks will download, install, and activate the new version for you. It additionally updates your company file(s) as well. The upgrade may take some time, depending on internet speeds and your company file's size.
  5. When it's finished, select Open QuickBooks.

I've also included a detailed resource about our discontinuation policy which may come in handy moving forward: QuickBooks service discontinuation policy
