Used to be able to subtotal various service dates int he body of the invoive so client could see each serve date's totals. Now that feature is gone. Why?

I need to subtotal multiple service dates in the body of the invoice like I've done for years but the new invoice format that I'm being forced to use won't let me. Why?

Thanks for posting here, Parishas. I'm here to provide the steps to locate the subtotal function in the new invoicing experience.

Adding a subtotal function is in the new invoicing experience; however, it is not shown on the invoice tab. We have to navigate to a specific option to access it. Here are the steps:

  1. Go to + New, select Invoice, or open an existing one.
  2. Navigate below to Add product and service.
  3. Click the drop-down arrow to Add subtotal.

I've included some screenshots below for your reference.

If you wish to revert to the previous invoice layout in QuickBooks Online (QBO), follow these steps.

  1. Go to the + New button.
  2. Select Invoice.
  3. In the upper-right corner, click the Old Layout button.
  4. Then, Leave

Please note that switching to different invoice styles in QBO is available to selected users only.

Finally, you can browse this article for personalizing your sales forms: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online

Please let us know if you have more questions about managing your sales forms. We're one post away. Have a great day!

I am trying to add a subtotal in the middle of various items on my estimate and it will not allow me to add it where I need it. It puts the subtotal at the end of the estimate. How can I add subtotals after the estimate has been created

Hi there, @Sharon119.

The option you're trying to utilize is unavailable inside QuickBooks Online (QBO). On the Estimate page, there's only one subtotal section, and it's under the Products and Services section. If you wish to send feedback to our Product Development Team, we can help you. These are the steps:

  1. Access your QuickBooks Online company.
  2. On the left navigational bar, click the Gear icon.
  3. Select Feedback.
  4. Enter your comments or product suggestions and then select Next to submit feedback.

For more details, please see this page: How do I submit feedback?

Moreover, here's an article to about how to create personalized sales forms inside the program: Customize invoices, estimates, and sales receipts in QuickBooks Online.

We're always ready to assist if you have follow-up questions about managing estimates or other QuickBooks-related questions. Feel free to comment below so we can get back to you. Stay safe.
