Utilitiy to Change Job Status from None to Closed for All Old Projects

I've inherited the database and set up of a company that has been in business and using QuickBooks for 15+ years and the previous operators did not make a practice of coding the jobs as closed when completed because they used a side spreadsheet to manage open jobs.

I would like to advance our use of QuickBooks to routinely update the job status so we can manage the jobs from the database without using a parallel spreadsheet system.

The initial goal of setting the job status of the thousands of old jobs to closed is daunting.

Does anyone know if there is a way to change all Job Status settings to Closed and then just resetting the real active jobs to Active?

Thank you.

Utilitiy to Change Job Status from None to Closed for All Old Projects

Good day, @DEW2022.

For now, there are no available settings that could change all job statuses to closed in QuickBooks Desktop (QBDT).

Although, there is a workaround you can use to easily close their status without going to the Job info window. Simply use the Add/Edit Multiple List Entries feature to modify your data. Let me show you how:

  1. Go to Lists and select Add/Edit Multiple List Entries
  2. Click Customize Columns.
  3. Under the Available Columns section, select Job Status.
  4. Click Add and select OK
  5. Go to the JOB STATUS column, then change their status from there. \

I can see how this option would be helpful for you in handling multiple tasks in QuickBooks. Thus, I'll take note of this as a suggestion.

Moreover, you can send a request to our developer with regards to this function. That way, they can review it and most likely include it in our future updates. Here's how to send them feedback:

  1. Click the Help menu and select Send Feedback Online.
  2. Choose Product Suggestion, then enter the details of your concern.
  3. Select Send Feedback and click Close Window.

In case you need related resources while working with QuickBooks, please feel free to skim through the topics from our help articles.

Please let me know how else I can help you with QuickBooks. I've got your back and am always happy to help. Keep safe!
