Viewing line item columns

Lately, I have to keep resizing the columns when I enter bills. They are spread very far apart and don't fit in the normal screen view. Has anyone else noticed this and is there a quick fix?

Hello there, Anonymous32.

I acknowledge the difficulty you are experiencing with resizing the columns for your bills. Let us work together to troubleshoot and resolve this issue.

Your browser's settings impact the appearance of the bill and columns. We'll have to adjust the setup to decrease the column size.

Here's how:

  1. In Google Chrome, click the three-dotted line icon and choose Settings.
  2. This action will display the Settings page.
  3. In the Appearance menu, go to the Font size section and make sure to select the correct size option.
  4. Click the Page zoom dropdown and choose your preferred size.

Also, make sure to properly set up the settings in QBO to ensure all pages are displayed correctly. See the following information:

  • Screen resolution set to 1024x768 or higher
  • Dots-per-inch (DPI) set to "Normal" or "100%"

Get insights on how to configure the zoom settings in your browser by reading through this article: Unable to see the entire page in QuickBooks Online.

I've got some resources that cover topics related to optimizing bill management, expense tracking, and bill payments. Feel free to explore each one to learn more about the process:

I have noticed this, as well.  It is SUPER annoying!!!

And just FYI, it has NOTHING to do with font size or settings.

It's EVERY DAY that it changes. Throughout the day.  Whatever QB engineers did this time TOTALLY screwed that up.

As far as I know, there is NO fix, because they don't see it as a problem.

I'm having this issue as well, and yes, it is SUPER ANNOYING!

I'm using QuickBooks Online. It seems every day when I log in, the bill column format has shifted. Sometimes the columns are just a little too long, some days they are extremely long - you could write a book in the space given in each column. This is ridiculous. I have to scroll sideways inside the bill for a crazy length to get to the next column. I have tried using the manual resizing (the little diagonal lines at the end corner of each column) but half the time I get done with one or two columns and then it automatically resizes all of them back to where it started. The columns are so long now that there is an actual scroll bar *within the category details* to help get to the next column.

PLEASE FIX THIS!!!!

Hi there, CRR_CFSA.

I understand having the bill columns away from each other is time-consuming as you have to move them to see the next one. We've received this issue, and we escalated this to our product engineers.

In the meantime, I suggest doing the basic troubleshooting on your browser. First is using incognito or private window.

You can use either of these keyboard shortcuts:

  • For Google Chrome browser: Ctrl + Shift + N
  • For Mozilla Firefox browser: Ctrl + Shift + P
  • For Safari browser: Command + Option + P

If this works, go to your regular browser and clear its cache and cookies. It will give your browser a fresh start. However, if this does not work, the next step is opening your QuickBooks using another supported browser

Moreover, if the issue persists. I suggest reaching out to our support team so they can add you to the list of affected users for this issue.

Let me share you some articles that can assist you managing your expenses in the future.

If you still have question regarding your bill column format, please don't hesitate to reply on the thread or post a new one. Have a great day!
