Viewing which inventory assemblies use the same inventory part

So we have inventory assembly items that are made up of three components, or inventory parts. If I'm looking at one of the parts, how can I see a list of all the assemblies it belongs to?

As an example, we assemble tubes, caps, and labels. We use the same tube for multiple jobs, multiple customers. How can I see a list of those assemblies that use that specific tube?

Viewing which inventory assemblies use the same inventory part

I'm happy to see you again here in the Community, @adirato.

At this time, the system isn't able to generate a list that shows on which assembly is using a specific item. The best way to see the item used on the assembly is to open the one that you built. In this case, you'll be able to see the parts of the transaction and take note of it.

You can run a QuickReport of that specific item like a tube to view all the details on how many tubes were used.

To do that:

  1. Click on List at the top.
  2. Select on Item List
  3. Look for Tube.
  4. Right click on the name of the item and choose QuickReport Tube
  5. From there, you'll be able to see the tubes that were used. Click on each entry to see the assembled item.

Once you have the details of your assembly, you may take note of which assemblies does the tube belongs to so you'll have a reference.

I can see the convenience of being able to pull up a list that contains the said data. Please know that our developers are constantly considering new features to be added to the system to cope with your business needs.

I'd encourage you to visit our Firm of the Future site, to be updated with our latest happenings and product road-maps.

You can always get back to me if you have more questions on this or with QuickBooks. I'd be happy to help. Have nice day!

What you are looking for is a Where Used report.  Such a report is available in a third party app called Auto Build Assemblies.  Check it out at autobuildassemblies.com .  Contact info available on website if you want to discuss.
