What does the InAgency status mean for 1099s efiling?

Wondering what a typical duration of 1099 filings reaming "InAgency"?  Is the cited agency QuickBooks or the IRS & State?  How does this status reflect upon filing deadlines and sending to Recipients?

What does the InAgency status mean for 1099s efiling?

I appreciate you posting your questions here in the Community, @Torrey. I'm here to assist you with your queries about 1099 filings.

The InAgency status for 1099 e-filing is for federal copies only. The InAgency status means the IRS has received it but it's not yet processed or approved yet. However, it does not impact filing deadlines or sending forms to recipients, as the IRS and state tax agencies set those.

Once the InAgency status changes to Accepted or Processed by the IRS, it indicates that the filing has been successfully received and is being reviewed.

At what point after the giling dates are forms sent to recipients (contractors)?

Let me chime in and provide information about 1099 forms, rey.

In QuickBooks Online (QBO), forms e-filed on or before Jan 27 will be mailed to the contactor to the address indicated in their Profile by January 31.

1099 will be due to the IRS and your contractors by January 31. We recommend filing it before January 28 at 5:00 PM PT to ensure a postmark by the 31st. E-filing is still open until April 30 for the IRS, but a postmark is no longer guaranteed.

What does the InAgency status mean for 1099s efiling?

I e-filed contractor 1099's on 1/8/24. I understand what "InAgency" means, but WHEN does QB send the 1099's to the recipients? As of today, none of the recipients (contractors) have received their 1099's yet.

What does the InAgency status mean for 1099s efiling?

Hello,

Do you mind to share if your 1099 recipients have received their 1099 either via email or mail? I filed mine on 1/18/24 and today is already 2/6/24 and quite a few folks reached out asking about their 1099 which they have not gotten it neither via email nor the mailed form. It is concerning.
