Yeah, that’s super frustrating. QuickBooks Online doesn’t autosave invoices as you work, you have to hit Save and Close or Save and New manually, or all your edits can disappear if the browser crashes or you get logged out. I’ve lost long invoices before, and it’s honestly one of the most annoying parts of the app. My workaround: I save every few minutes, especially on big invoices, just in case. If you need something with real autosave, there are a few third-party tools out there, and some offer free versions that might cover your needs for smaller volumes. Would love to see QuickBooks finally add autosave, though.

I can see how this has affected you and your business workflow, Brhurley, especially after spending so much time creating detailed invoices.

 

Please be aware that the system doesn't automatically save transactions during the creation process, which is why your invoice was not saved.

 

You'll have to click the Save button after entering all the details to save them successfully.

 

If you're inactive for a period, your session will time out, resulting in the loss of any unsaved work. You can adjust the duration of your session by logging in through your web browser and heading to the Account and Settings.

I also acknowledge that an auto-save feature would be beneficial, as it would save time for both of you, Poll. I recommend submitting your suggestions to our product engineers, as your ideas could lead to valuable updates in the future.
 

To send your feature request using a web browser, follow these steps: 

 

  1. Head to the Gear icon, then select Feedback.
  2. Input your thoughts on implementing an auto-save feature in the box provided.
  3. Click Next to submit.

 

In the meantime, I suggest following the recommended process to avoid any loss of information or following the workaround provided by Poll.
