Buy nowQBO updated yesterday, and between yesterday and today I can no longer drag a .pdf straight from an email into Add Bill/Upload from Computer. In fact, Upload from Computer is no longer an option. Now there's Create Bill or Upload Multiple Bills. Neither one of these options will now allow a direct drag from an email, which was quite upsetting. I don't have time to open each .pdf, save it, go to Attach Files, find and select it, etc. Much too tedious!
So I found a work around. It takes a little bit of setup, but once it's set up it's almost faster than dragging them one at a time from emails.
The setup part:
On any email with a .pdf bill attached, don't open the .pdf, but click on the little arrow just to the right of it. This opens a menu. A little more than halfway down you will see Upload. Select it, and it will show a location to the right. Click on that location. This autosaves the .pdf into an Attachments folder in that location.
Find the Attachments folder and verify that the bill is now located inside it.
Pin the Attachments folder to your Quick Access bar in Windows Explorer.
Now you're ready to load bills into QBO, very quickly.
The Creating Bills part:
Click on emails and Upload all the bills you want to put into QBO. Once they're all in the Attachments folder, open QBO.
Go to Bills/Add Bill/Upload Multiple Bills.
Click the Select Files link in the middle of that box and Windows Explorer will pop up.
Select the Attachments folder you've saved to the Quick Access bar.
Shift select the top bill to the bottom bill so they're all highlighted and select Open at the bottom of the window.
Boom. They're all being uploaded to QBO, and they'll show up at the bottom of that page for you to review.
After I'm sure they're all loaded okay, I delete them all out of the Attachments folder, so it's empty and ready for the next time I'm uploading bills. I'm thinking about uploading them as I go through the morning, then putting them all in QBO once in the afternoon, or something like that.
Anyway, I hope this workaround is helpful to you! I was on a chat with a very nice tech for a very long time and he couldn't tell me anything about when drag/drop from email would come back - but this should do till then!
Your workaround for resolving the issue by dragging a .pdf directly from your email to the Add Bill/Upload from Computer feature in QuickBooks Online(QBO) is greatly appreciated, Kelli_L.
Tugging a .pdf file from your email to QuickBooks Online (QBO) while uploading a bill works seamlessly. However, if you're having this issue, I recommend executing troubleshooting steps in your QBO, as this fixes issues like these, especially after recent updates or changes. Start by logging in to your QBO account using a private or incognito browser. You can use these keyboard shortcuts below:
From there, try dragging your .pdf from your email to QBO. If it works, I recommend returning to your default web browser and performing a cache clearance to eliminate browser cookies that impede web page loading.
I'll be leaving you these resources that entail guidelines on creating reports in QBO to get ahold of how your financial business is going:
Feel free to share any remarks or inquiries relating to any QBO feature. I'll address these as soon as I can.
Hi Irene!
Thank you for the response! I did all of these options with John Mark P. of Intuit Support yesterday, including having him Share the screen with me and replicate the problem on his side. He also could not get one to drag in, and said that he'd be referring it up to the Engineers. His workaround involved me logging in to Outlook from my browser instead of my desktop, clicking to download the .pdf, and then it will work to drag it in from the download file. I think my way is much easier and faster, especially since I don't typically use Outlook from the browser.
As of 5 minutes ago, QBO still gives me a raspberry when attempting to drag a .pdf from an email directly into it, into either the Create Bill or Upload Multiple Bills option.
I hope others can still use it! But if not, this way I do hope will be useful.
QBO is back to how it was 3 days ago, with Upload to Computer back! Guess I wasn't the only one who hollered about it.
So all is well now!
Thanks, Intuit!
