cannot send the invoice

This error means that there's a compatibility issue between two programs. This is probably caused by the product updates or damaged components.

There are a few things we can do to resolve this error, mu_dh.

We can update your QuickBooks to the latest release, and download the QuickBooks Print and PDF Repair tool. This will fix and update the components needed to send invoices in QuickBooks.

Afterwards, you can try sending the invoices again.

Feel free to leave a reply if you need anything. I'll be around.

cannot send the invoice

Hi there!

I have the same problem. I run Windows 10 and cannot e-mail the invoices out to clients.

I am using Quickbooks Simplestart 2012, but when I click on print invoice, nothing happens.  I have gone into Printer Setup within Quickbooks and tried printing to XPS and PDF. Also, when trying to e-mail the invoice it says Quickbooks cannot create necessary PDF files.

I tried following the steps, but no luck:

* Restarting

* My windows can print fine from notebook or any other app to XPS.

* Downloading and installing the intuit repair file for this particular issue.

Hi, Bevcon.

Thanks for dropping by the QuickBooks Community.  I’m here to provide information as to why you’re unable to email and print invoices.

I appreciate your efforts in trying out some steps to resolve the issue. This can happen if your QuickBooks version is no longer compatible with your Windows operating system. (QuickBooks 2012 have been discontinued since May 2015).

However, we can try some basic troubleshooting to help fix some common printing problems. What you need to do is download and run the QuickBooks PDF & Print Repair Tool. Here’s how:

  1. Download and run the QuickBooks Print and PDF Repair Tool.
  2. Once the tool completes, try the .pdf file-related task that originally generated the error message.
  3. If the same problem occurs, reboot your computer and try again. If the same error persists, reset your temp folder permissions.
  • Press the Windows key + R to open the RUN command.
  • Type %TEMP% and press Enter.
  • Right-click an empty area of the temp folder, and choose Properties.
  • Click the Security tab.
  • Ensure all usernames and groups showing on the Security tab have Full Control.
  • Once the permissions have been set to Full Control, try saving as PDF again within QuickBooks.

Since you’re still able to print using your XPS Document Writer, try printing to your actual printer and see if you can print successfully outside of QuickBooks.

If the same error comes up after following the steps provided in the article above, I’d suggest upgrading your QuickBooks Desktop to the newest version. If you wish, you may visit our online website for the plans and pricing.

cannot send the invoice

Hi,

I went through that as well.  Quickbooks just stopped being able to produce PDFs.  I went through all the steps with the Repair Tool, etc., and none of it fixed the problem.  I finally solved it by downloading a free program called "Cute PDF Writer" (Google it) which comes up on your printing list as an available "printer" and lets you name and save the file as a PDF anywhere you choose.  I've found this little program very useful for many other tasks besides QB, too.

By the way, even though your QB won't print a PDF file, it should still email the invoice for you.  You can preview it on the screen before emailing it if you like.

Hope this helps you.  ~ Kelly Sakelakos

Hello there, villaltayc.

When sending an invoice, it allows you to enter the details such as your email and the recipients address. If it isn't filled out, a specific error will prompt on what needs to be done. I would like to know what specific error you've received so I can help you fix it.

I'm having the same problem with Windows 10 Pro Build 1809 and QuickBooks 2019 Pro

Both OS and QB are up to date.

I have tried all the steps listed everywhere for this problem and now narrow this down to one thing -- Windows 10 Build 1809 will not save .xps files, it saves them as .oxps and I think this is the problem. I've tried the group policy update to change the default to .xps but it doesn't work either.

Microsoft is withdrawing support for .xps (I think)

The issue now is if Intuit will come up with a solution as they can't expect their customers to use old versions of OS with security issues so that their software will run.
